Hunting was bleak

But the night looks promising.

Post run ride home

Did our turkey trot around Lake Mercer this am. Nice run. Looking forward to some good thanksgiving fixings this afternoon.

It's still November, right?

It looks like it's all about which you want to believe. My various phone weather apps list temperatures in our area between 18 and 15 degrees this morning. The thermometer right outside the kitchen window says 17 degrees, so a degree or two colder isn't unbelievable. The truck thermometer is off, but did drop two degrees between the house and the bus stop. So 15 degrees is quite possible.

I don't remember it ever being in the teens before late December or January since we've been here. Checking the Washington Post, it looks like the record cold for today was 20 degrees at Dulles in 1990 and 18 degrees at Reagan National in 1891. They also say this is the first time the highs have been so low this early in the season since 1996. Remember the blizzard of '96? I wasn't here, but I remember. Come on big snow!

My run today will be awesome. Might wait for mid-afternoon so that it'll be in the thirties at least.

Daddy and daughter

Boredom

Cailin is bored beyond words. She suffered a concussion last week (luckily she is on the mend), but no electronics, TV, reading, running, or anything requiring too much concentration has left her a tad stir crazy!

Long Friday Run

Decided to go for a run yesterday morning. About 80 degrees and 90% humidity. But other than that, a perfect morning:

Ran Billy Goat C trail along the Potomac. Felt so good I kept running and did Billy Goat B too. At that point, going back to my office sounded terrible so I might as well do Billy Goat A. It wasn't really possible to run A, more of a rock scramble. But the views were great:

Here are pictures of what most of my scramble for two miles on Billy Goat A looked like:

Really enjoyed myself. Ended up being 10.6 miles all said and done. Much better than work!

Rumor has it...

...that mom is organizing in the house. Hence dad's shop is a popular refuge suddenly.

Last meal

After saying good bye to Munich, we headed to Stuttgart to meet up with a former classmate of Marlee's. We then checked into a hotel and enjoyed our last dinner in Europe at the Flying Ship. Yummy pizzas.

Hohenschwangau Castle

This castle is close to Neuswanstein. We stopped on our drive back to get this picture.

A little more Neuswanstein

Beautiful lady!

Munich

Headed to Munich on Saturday to visit Uncle Dodo. Walked around (dodging rain drops) and saw some of the sites.

The last picture is in the square where at 5pm, music starts at the glockinspiel (clock) with the statues moving around in the clock.

Rainbow

On our way back from Neuswanstein, we came across this rainbow. I pulled over to try and take a non-windshield photo, but couldn't get a good view of it. This will have to suffice.

Walk down

I think it is easier to walk up hill than down. Wouldn't you agree?

Neuswanstein castle

Went to the inspiration for Disney's Sleeping Beauty castle on Friday. The hike up to the castle was another hill--about 40 minutes. Views were fabulous!

In search of the waterfall

Marlee and I ventured out tonight in search of the local waterfall on bikes. Like our bicycling selfie?

We road down the road, through the gate, up the hill (avoiding cow pies), abandoned our bikes, and continued on foot until we reached the little waterfall. The ride down the hill was much easier!

Last picture is of our town, Bichlbach, Austria. A paraglider was landing as I was taking the picture.

Can this be considered dinner?

Oberammergau ice cafe!
